Saturday, November 1, 2008Breaking free of the packThere's no longer a link to this erstwhile blog from the kemibe.com home page, so if you're here, it's because you've bookmarked the place and are probably a regular visitor. In my PSA the other day, I mentioned that I was giving this blog up in part because there's nothing about my running that bears mentioning anymore but also because I would be focusing on a "new, eminently time-consuming blog I've secreted away in some dark corner of the Web." Rather than feel compelled to go to such lengths to justify myself, I should have just stuck with the first explanation, because the second was an unnecessarily placed carrot that has invited numerous people to ask me for the URL to the new site. I really do appreciate the interest in the shitstreams that originate in my temporal lobes, but I'm not willing to to provide this link. It's not so much that I'm writing about things I don't want associated with my real identity; it's that, given the nature of the material, it's important that I not be biased by familiarity with any of the people in the audience. When I have a good idea of what set of eyes are following, I become more of a showman than a craftsman. I don't want that. I'm sorry if this disappoints anyone, but it really shouldn't. I've had nothing meaningful to say about running--mine and others'--for a long time now, and, adding to the considerations above, the topics I've moved on to just aren't the kinds of things a sensible person invites half-strangers to read. I may use this page as a clearinghouse for things I consider classics or what have you that don't fit neatly anywhere else on my site, once I determine if such things exist and what they are. I know this is just an invitation for people to keep returning, but that's okay--my server can handle it. And in the meantime, I've left a nice strip of Google links for people to enjoy. Be well this fair Halloweelection season and beyond. KB
